In response to the increasing spread of misinformation and disinformation related to trans, Two-Spirit, and non-binary (TTNB) youth and their care, We Are Allies—a Health Canada-funded initiative—was launched in June 2024. Using a collaborative, research-informed approach, the campaign delivered a national communications strategy across social and mainstream media. This work resulted in a suite of publicly available materials, including:

  • Research summaries grounded in clinical evidence
  • Storytelling videos featuring TTNB people, families, Elders, and health care providers
  • An e-learning module on identifying and addressing misinformation
  • All resources are housed on a website and shared through dedicated social media accounts on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and TikTok

Following the conclusion of the initial campaign in March 2025, the project has transitioned into Circle of Care—a phase focused on deepening engagement and developing context-specific resources for diverse communities, including Indigenous and Christian faith-based contexts.

To ensure that the materials and impact of We Are Allies are sustained beyond the current funding period (ending March 2027), Trans Care BC has compiled a tailored package of We Are Allies assets specific to CPATH. Please contact Lucas Wilson if you have questions about them.

Research Summaries

Research summaries are plain language summaries of current scientific literature on key topics related to gender-affirming care and gender diversity. Research points can be used to validate information and point people toward trusted/peer-reviewed sources. These are available in English and French, and viewable as web-based content as printable PDFs.

Resource Guides

Check It Out is a brief tool that people can use to validate health information they are seeing online or within their communities. The tool prompts viewers to assess health information and gives reminders of common forms misinformation might take and how to spot it. Available in English and French.
