Ever since CPATH formed in 2008, the organization has helped members connect and learn from one another. Member participation enables CPATH to continuously grow as a vibrant, diverse, active and strong national organization. CPATH has had a powerful impact provincially, nationally and internationally, including advocating for policy and legislative changes, promoting education and awareness, and contributing to revisions of international standards of care. As a member, you are joining a strong nationwide movement that advocates for the health and well-being of gender diverse and trans people. We enthusiastically invite membership from people who adhere to the principles and values as described in CPATH's Vision and Mission Statements<\/a>. We reserve the right to refuse membership to anyone whose position diverges significantly from these principles. Membership Benefits<\/strong><\/h2>\n

While we very much appreciate your membership, please note that CPATH is currently re-organizing, so events and activities for members are limited at present.<\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. Opportunity to participate in and support a strong voice for trans health in Canada.<\/li>\n
  2. Vote for Association Officers and Board members (Professional and Group memberships only).<\/li>\n
  3. Discounted registrations at CPATH conferences and events.<\/li>\n

  5. Opportunity to contribute, at an organizational and systems level, to the well-being of gender diverse and trans people by participating in our committees and working groups.<\/li>\n

      Membership Fees<\/strong><\/h2>\n

      Membership fees are current as of the September 2025 Annual General Meeting. Membership dues cover the 12-month period following your purchase. All prices are in Canadian Dollars. Physician\/Surgeon, Other Professional, and Supporting Memberships for retirees are available at 50% off.<\/strong><\/p>\n

      Most of CPATH\u2019s funding comes from membership fees, although we also secure grants for conferences and projects. Membership fees enable our core work - they cover the costs of website administration, conferences, administrative costs, legal advice, and much more.<\/p>\n

      • Physician\/Surgeon Memberships <\/strong>are available to any individual who is a physician or surgeon, is a member of or is eligible for registration in a professional body or professional association, and who<\/span><\/span>
        a) Provides regular direct* provider to client biopsychosocialspiritual health care, or
        b) Provides indirect** care to transgender identifying or questioning persons.
        Professional membership (non-physician\/surgeon) carries voting privileges.
        $200.00<\/em><\/span><\/li>\n
      • Other Professional Memberships <\/strong>are available to any individual who is not a physician or surgeon, who is a member of or is eligible for registration in a professional body or professional association, and who
        a) Provides regular direct provider to client biopsychosocialspiritual health care, or
        b) Provides indirect care to transgender identifying or questioning persons.
        Professional membership (non-physician\/surgeon) carries voting privileges.
        $100.00<\/em><\/span><\/li>\n
      • Supporting Memberships <\/strong>are available to individuals who do not work in the professional disciplines listed above but still have an interest in being an active member of the organization.\u00a0 Supporting membership does not carry voting privileges.
        $50.00<\/em><\/span><\/li>\n
      • Student\u00a0<\/strong>Memberships<\/strong> require sponsorship and recommendation by a full member along with proof of current full-time status as a graduate student in a program directly related to transgender health. Student membership does not carry voting privileges.
        $35.00<\/em><\/span><\/li>\n
      • Grassroots Organization Memberships <\/strong><\/strong>are\u00a0available to a formally incorporated or registered entity or an unincorporated community group or organization, following application to and approval by the board. The organization's budget must be under $100,000 and up to 5 people can be registered under it. <\/span> It also allows for member-rate attendance at CPATH conferences for all individuals registered under the organization. <\/span><\/span>The group may exercise one vote via a designated representative.<\/span>
        <\/span>Such organizations are considered based on several factors including but not limited to:
        a) the provision of regular direct* provider to client health care (bio-psycho-social-spiritual), or
        b) indirect** care, to transgender identifying or questioning persons.
        $50.00<\/em><\/span><\/li>\n
      • Organizational Memberships (non-grassroots)<\/strong> are available to any registered non-profit or other organization whose annual budget exceeds $100,000. These memberships do not carry voting privileges, though each individual registered under one is eligible to vote depending on their status above (e.g. a surgeon would be able to vote, but a student wouldn't). These memberships are useful for reducing the individual membership fees for individuals registered under them, and for obtaining a member-registration rate for conferences for a group of people.

          <\/ul>\n

          *Direct care is broadly defined by various disciplines and includes, but is not limited to medicine, psychology, social work, counselling, psychotherapy, speech and voice therapy, health care administration, and public administration.<\/em><\/p>\n

          **Indirect care is defined as supporting the wellbeing of trans-identifying individuals in their capacity as professionals and is limited to disciplines such as law, theology, and academia (master's level or above).<\/em><\/p>\n
